Dear New Mexicans,
The legislature fast-tracked Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's vaccination Bill SB3 and it has now passed in both the Senate and House of Representatives. Â The last step is for the Governor to sign it into law.Â
Please scroll below for info about:
Who voted for and against the law
Summary of the new law
Concerning implications of the law with regards to vaccination exemptions and requirements
Successful precedent for stopping changes to mandatory vaccines
An important study which found that vaccinated children have a 250% increase in chronic disease
How to obtain a vaccine exemption per state statute
Regardless of the Bill's passage, we greatly appreciate all of your emails and calls to legislators. Your efforts did make an impact, as several legislators mentioned that they were receiving many emails and they brought up our concerns for discussion in the meetings. Thank you!
WHO VOTED FOR AND AGAINST THE BILL
Legislator voting records are below.Â
Thanks to all the legislators who voted against this Bill!

SUMMARY OF SB3 - IMMUNIZATION RULES AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Law SB3 Immunization Rules and Recommendations does the following:
Removes the Federal CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) as an entity whose recommendations will guide state policies
Â
Instead, only the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics and NM Dept of Health will be taken into account when determining the mandatory childhood vaccinations for NM children Â
Â
Adds the requirement for mandatory vaccination of young children in daycare centers and early childhood education. Many daycare centers and early childhood programs already had already chosen to require vaccination, but under this new law, they will ALL now be required to mandate vaccination.
Â
Gives the NM Dept of Health the power to make recommendations on vaccinations for adults residing in the state
Â
***IMPORTANT NOTES:Â The pre-existing state statutes already require vaccination for all school-aged children. This Bill does NOT make any changes to the pre-existing statute NMSA 24-5-3 which allows for medical and religious exemptions. There is already a state statute allowing the state to purchase, store, and distribute vaccines for all NM children.

CONCERNING IMPLICATIONS OF THE LAW WITH REGARDS TO VACCINATION EXEMPTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Given that SB3 now requires the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to be considered in determining the rules for mandatory childhood vaccinations, we need to watch very closely for any attempted changes by the NM Dept of Health and Legislature.Â
For instance, two of the AAP's current policies of concern are:

SUCCESSFUL PRECEDENT FOR STOPPING CHANGES TO MANDATORY VACCINES
Note that, with massive public outcry, we helped to stop the NM Dept of Health from requiring COVID shots for children in 2022.
Additionally, the legislature attempted to remove religious exemptions from vaccination back in 2013. That was also stopped due to large public outcry. Â
We will be watching and ready to sound the alarm if either of these are tried again.
STUDY FINDS 250% INCREASE IN CHRONIC DISEASE IN VACCINATED VS UNVACCINATED CHILDREN
Informed consent is of paramount importance, so we want to share an important study with you that was recently revealed in the US Senate. This study looked at rates of chronic disease in 16,511 vaccinated children vs. 1,957 unvaccinated children.
The study concluded that:
"exposure to vaccination was independently associated with an overall 2.5-fold increase in the likelihood of developing a chronic health condition, when compared to children unexposed to vaccination. This association was driven primarily by asthma, atopic disease [allergies], eczema, autoimmune disease and neurodevelopmental disorders [such as ADHD, developmental delay, speech disorders, etc]."
This study was performed by scientists and doctors who were trying to prove that those who claimed harms from vaccination were wrong. Â Instead, the study found exactly the opposite of what they had set out to prove.

HOW TO OBTAIN A CHILDHOOD VACCINATION EXEMPTIONÂ
As of now, by state law, both religious and medical vaccine exemptions allowed in New Mexico. Medical exemptions are notoriously difficult to obtain, however all NM students have the option of religious exemption from vaccination. This can be a personally-held religious belief.Â
On our website, we have comprehensive information about how to use the exemption form (including lawyer-recommended wording for religious exemptions) here 👇👇👇:
We hope this is helpful in navigating the impacts of the new vaccination law.Â
