Dear New Mexicans,
Thanks to those of you who emailed the legislature in support of the crime Bills for the Special Session. Although we haven't agreed with most of what the Governor has done, this is one time when we are in alignment towards stopping the catch-and-release situation that is devastating our communities with hundreds of crimes.
We're sorry to report that the legislature did not support the Governor's much-needed crime Bills in the Special Session. The legislators generally refused to sponsor the crime Bills and ended the session quickly in just a few hours without even introducing any of the important Bills. Nonetheless, we appreciate your efforts to make the Special Session a success.

NEXT STEPS
The Governor will be hosting a town hall about public safety in Las Cruces on Thursday 7/25 from 5:30-7:30pm. That town hall will be livestreamed to the Governor's Facebook page.
Hopefully, by continuing to push on this issue, we will be able to see meaningful crime legislation passed in a future session of the legislature.
Thank you again for taking action for the safety of our communities!
