PLEASE HELP! QUICK AND EASY: Email Governor Lujan Grisham to STOP Protecting PORN in Schools

Dear New Mexicans,

Senator Sedillo Lopez’s “Freedom to Read” Bill aims to make it more difficult to remove age-inappropriate, explicit books from public school libraries across the state. Most parents have no idea that these books are present in their children's schools. These are books with:

• detailed descriptions of child rape,

• sex acts between adults and children,

• glorification of children using hard drugs and sex toys,

• children engaging in cutting and suicidal behaviors,

• excessively violent imagery, etc.

The “Freedom to Read” Bill would severely restrict who is allowed to challenge the presence of explicit books in taxpayer-funded schools. The Bill would also protect librarians from any liability for providing explicit content to students.

This year’s legislative session is a budget session and the Governor gets to decide which Bills are heard. Let’s urge Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to prevent this Bill from being heard in the legislature.
