HELP PROTECT Homeschooling in NM + 2 SCHOOL CHOICE Events 6/17 in Albq and Alamogordo

Dear New Mexicans,

  • School choice/parents' revolution events in Albuquerque and Alamogordo on June 17th

CALL TO ACTION: PLEASE HELP PROTECT HOMESCHOOLING IN NM

The Situation

The NM Public Education Department (PED) is trying to impose required instructional hours from public schools onto homeschoolers.  There is no provision in the state law for this and the PED has no right to tell homeschoolers how many hours they have to spend on schooling.

Call to Action: How You Can Help

Please email the NMPED to oppose their efforts to apply public school hour requirements on homeschoolers.

Potential Talking Points:

  • The PED does not have the right to tell homeschoolers how many hours they must spend on instructional time.

  • Per state statute, the PED is only allowed to tell homeschoolers how many days they must teach, and NOT the specific number of hours.

  • The PED needs to immediately remove references to instructional hours from any homeschool websites or forms.
