Robert F Kennedy Bans Transgender Mutilation and Sterilization of Minors

US Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F Kennedy has released a declaration stating that so-called "gender-affirming care" is dangerous and imposes lasting harm. Under the new declaration:
Â
"Sex-rejecting procedures for children and adolescents are neither safe nor effective as a treatment modality for gender dysphoria, gender incongruence, or other related disorders in minors, and therefore, fail to meet professional recognized standards of health care."
Hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid are barred from providing minors with gender mutilation surgeries, puberty blockers, or cross-sex hormones.
Medicare and Medicaid are barred from paying for "gender-affirming" care for children.

What This Means for "Gender-Affirming Care" in New Mexico
In 2023, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and the progressive-led legislature enacted HB7 "Reproductive and Gender-Affirming Care Act," which requires teachers and school nurses to facilitate access to transgender healthcare with NO age restrictions or parental consent. This law has resulted in New Mexico becoming a hub for transgender mutilation and sterilization of children.Â

Under the new HHS declaration, hospitals that continue to participate in gender-rejecting procedures for children will be barred from receiving Federal funds. Â
Â
These financial consequences mean that hospitals in New Mexico will have very little incentive to continue providing harmful transgender procedures and medicines to children. Â This is a HUGE VICTORY for children's health in New Mexico!
