We've been ringing the alarm bell since 2023 about NM's HB7 "Reproductive and Gender-Affirming Healthcare Act" that requires school teachers and nurses to facilitate access to transgender and abortion care with NO parental consent or age restrictions.

NEW FEDERAL LAWSUIT Against Albuquerque Public Schools

School social worker Jeanette Martinez has filed a lawsuit against Albuquerque Public Schools for forcing school personnel to hide children's gender transition from parents.

PROGRESS in Santa Fe Public Schools

We've shared previously how Kristy Borrego Ojinaga's 6-year-old daughter was forced to share a bathroom with a trans-identifying boy at a school in Santa Fe.

With the support of Independent Women's Network, Kristy is now leading a group of parents who are advocating for change in Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS).

Progress is being made, as SFPS recently updated their Administrative Regulation (AR) 330 to require parental involvement when a Gender Support Plan is implemented.

This change is a step in the right direction, but it is still far from what is needed.

SFPS school district staff can still meet with children to discuss gender support services before a parent is brought into the process. It isn’t until the Gender Support Plan is actually implemented that parental participation is required.
The policy also still allows children to use different names and pronouns, and directs staff to respect and use those names and pronouns, without parental notification or involvement.
It also does not address the other side of this issue — children who may be affected by another child’s Gender Support Plan. There are still no procedures or policies that would require notification to parents of the transgender student's classmates.
